Notes:
1) A stick measurement request is limited to one per team per stoppage
in play.
2) Altered uniforms of any type are not permitted and a player wearing
an altered uniform will not be allowed to play.
3) The equipment regulations are written in the spirit of fair play
and the league may at their option deem equipment ineligible for
play until a hearing has been held if it feels the spirit is being
abused.
4) The league may inspect any players equipment at random during
the season.
Rule
19-Sticks
a)
Sticks are to be made of wood or other approved materials. Tape
of any colour may be applied to aid in puck control. The goaltenders
stick must have a knob of tape, or other protective material no
less than ½ inch thick at the top of the shaft. This is for
the benefit of other players protection from being struck by the
sharp end of the goalie stick. If a goalie's stick is found to be
in default of this rule he must change sticks, with no penalty.
b)
Sticks cannot be longer than 63 inches from the heel to the end
of the shaft, and no more than 12.5" from the heel to the tip
of the blade. The blade cannot be more than 3", or less than
2" thick. All edges are to be bevelled. The curve of a players
stick, other than the goalie cannot exceed ½" at its
widest point.
c)
The blade of a goalie's stick cannot be thicker than 3.5",
except at the heel where it cannot exceed 4.5". The blade cannot
be longer than 15.5". There is also no measurement of the curvature
of the goal stick. The wide area of the goal stick extending up
the shaft cannot exceed 26" in length or 3.5" in width.
d)
If a player or goalie uses a stick not conforming to these specifications,
he is liable for a $200.00 fine and a minor penalty.
Notes:
1)
A team captain or alternate captain may call for a stick measurement.
If such a call is made, the referee will take the stick to the penalty
box where the appropriate measurements will be taken. The results
are recorded on the back of the penalty record. If the complaint
is not sustained then the complaining club will be assessed a bench
minor penalty an a $100.00 fine.
2)
A player cannot interfere with play if he is taking a replacement
goal stick to his goalie while play is in progress. If he does he
will be given a bench minor. A request for a stick measurement is
allowed at any time during regulation and overtime play, but it
is not permitted after a goal in overtime. If a player deliberately
breaks his stick or refuses to allow it to be inspected, he will
be given a minor penalty, a 10 minute misconduct and a $200.00 fine.
3)
A stick measurement can be requested at any time during regular
and overtime, but a request cannot be requested in overtime after
a goal was scored.
Rule 20-Skates
a)
All skates must be approved by the Rules Committee. All skates worn
by players and officials must have a safety blade. Any player not
wearing an approved safety blade must have it changed immediately.
b)
Speed skates are not permitted, nor are any other type of skate
that may cause injury.
Rule
21-Goalkeeper's Equipment
a)
Except for his skates and stick, all equipment worn by a goalie
must be designed to protect the head or body. The goalie cannot
use any other device or equipment that would give him an advantage
in keeping goal.
Leg
Pads
b)
Goalie leg pads cannot exceed 12" at their widest point. Calf
and ankle protectors must follow the contour of the body and cannot
be thicker than 1.5".
Notes:
The
league may inspect a goalie's equipment at any time. If a goalie's
equipment is found to be in violation of the rules, then he is suspended
for the next league game. If both goalies on a team are in violation
the goalie who played the game will be suspended for the next league
game and the back up goalie will be suspended for the next league
game after that. A team may then call up replacement goalies.
Chest
and Arm Pads
c)
No raised ridges are allowed, and layering of the arm pads is allowed
as long as it does not add to the stopping area. Shoulder protectors
have to follow the contour of the shoulder and not add any stopping
area and cannot be any thicker than ½". Clavicle protectors
cannot extend beyond the shoulder cap or the armpit and must be
no more than 1" in thickness. When in his crouch the chest
pad must not push the shoulder cap protector above the contour of
the shoulder.
Pants
d)
At a point 5" from the bottom of the pant, the width of the
pants cannot exceed 11", and this measurement is taken with
the goalie standing upright.
Jerseys
e)
No alterations are to be made to official jerseys unless approved
by the league. The jerseys are not to be tied down in such a way
as to create any webbing effect, thereby increasing the stopping
area. The jersey cannot extend to cover the area between the goalie's
legs. See below for official measurements.
Catching
Glove
f)
The catching glove has a maximum perimeter (distance around the
glove) of no more than 48 inches. The cuff can be no more than 4.5"
in height, and no more than 8" wide. The distance from the
top of the "T" in the pocket of the glove to the heel
cannot exceed 19".
Blocking
Glove
g)
The protective padding on the blocker cannot exceed 8" in width
and 16" in length. The blocker is to be rectangular. Masks
Masks of an approved design must be worn by all goalkeepers.
Rule
22-Protective Equipment
a)
All protective equipment except for helmets, face masks, gloves
and goaltender leg pads must be worn underneath the team's uniform.
b)
All players must wear protective helmets approved by the Rules Committee.
c)
Players gloves are not permitted to have the palms removed. A minor
penalty is assessed to an offending player, or a bench minor assessed
when a team makes a complaint found to be untrue.
Rule
23-Dangerous Equipment
a)
Pads or protectors cannot be made of metal or any other material
that may cause injury to another player.
b)
A player who has sustained a facial injury must wear a protective
mask approved by the Rules Committee. The player may wear any device
prescribed by the team's medical staff. If the opposing team objects
they can record the objection with the Commissioner.
Rule
24-The Puck
a)
The puck is made of vulcanized rubber and ins 1" thick and
3" in diameter. It is supposed to weigh between 5.5-6.0 ounces.
b)
The home team is responsible for the supply of pucks for the game.
They are kept frozen at the penalty box in the control of an Off
ice Official. Note: Keeping the pucks frozen helps prevent excessive
bouncing.
Rule
24A-Players' Jerseys
No
inserts or modifications to the jersey are allowed unless authorized
by the league. No alteration of the neck opening is allowed. The
sleeves must extend into the cuff of the glove. Jerseys must be
tied down at all times. Failure to properly tie the jersey down
may result in a penalty.
